About

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Anthropology at UC Santa Barbara. My research examines religious space and heritage-making in northwest India, with a focus on minority Muslim identity and representation in interreligious urban landscapes. My research examines how sites of heritage are mobilized to express belonging, and how heritage mobilizes both memory and future aspirations to explore minority religious representation in the present.

I will begin a fellowship in the UC Berkeley-AIPS Urdu Program in Pakistan at LUMS in fall 2019, and will be returning to India for dissertation fieldwork in early 2020.
